Chemistry without Chemicals
Plants need sun, but are also vulnerable to its rays. Over millions of years, they’ve developed a potent set of defenses to keep leaf cells healthy and vibrant. Sana culled the most effective antioxidants and botanical lipids to protect and repair skin in the same ways. The result is a sunscreen of unusual strength and effectiveness.

It’s rarely a good idea to clutter a dish with unnecessary ingredients. The same goes for skin care. Long ingredient lists usually mean synthetics, fillers, and shortcuts. Water, for example is drying on your skin and gives bacteria a place to grow. It happens to be the most common and most unnecessary ingredient in skin care.
Sana replaced water with light, stable botanicals. And it shows.
The Three-Step
Plant leaves are vulnerable to drying out due to their surface area. Their answer is a blend of natural humectants (to attract water), emollients (to nourish), and occlusives (to lock in moisture). It’s always nice to find ourselves in the glossy pages of a major publication, like, say, this month’s Marie Claire (see above). Of course, all that takes is some good p.r. work. It can be more gratifying to get a more substantive review. Check out last night’s LA Examiner, which suggested Vivesana sunscreens are “if not the best, one of the best sunscreens” the beauty editor, April Aldana, has ever tried. Yes, we’re blushing.
